[About]

Sergio (Serge) Leon is the CTO of Extendly and co-founder of 1NationUp, where he builds and maintains large-scale React and TypeScript systems in production. He is also a co-host of Hello Miami Hack Night, a weekly community for builders and creatives. Serge focuses on long-term system evolution, low-complexity architectures, and making frontend stacks survivable over years — not just releases.

The Anti-Shiny Object Syndrome

This talk is a long-term, real-world case study of how a React monorepo actually evolves in production — beyond blog-post architectures and conference demos. Serge will walk through the technical and organizational decisions that kept a large React codebase maintainable across years of product shifts, team growth, and tooling churn.

Rather than celebrating every new framework or pattern, the talk focuses on what stayed, what broke, and what quietly paid off. Topics include dependency discipline, state management migrations, component boundaries, build tooling fatigue, and how to evaluate “new” React ideas without destabilizing your system.

Attendees will leave with a practical mental model for resisting hype while still evolving their stack with intention.
